Oh, the joy of buying school supplies! I smiled the other day when I saw a mother and her children in the store. The cart was filled with themed lunch boxes, puppy and kitty folders, paper packages, pens and the biggest decision of all – the backpack. How I miss those shopping days. I really do! Sports and marching band practices are underway, teachers are setting up class, and the big one – Facebook is loaded with parents dropping their babies (yes, in their eyes) off at college! The back to school season is monumental and it makes a huge mark in the year.
With our youngest graduating from college, this is the first year in our life we don’t have someone heading back to school. A brand new season. They just keep cycling around, don’t they? Whether you’re pulling your kindergartner into their first classroom, throwing your middle-schooler to the wolves, or releasing your college student to the world, my prayer is that this will be a smooth transition for you. Solomon reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3 that “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” Embrace your season!
